The Village Cobbler has been a family-run business since 1986. You might say that in the 25 years since the cobbler set up shop on historic Armitage avenue, nestled in the heart of Lincoln Park, it has become a Chicago icon, an institution carrying on the old-time traditions, but now using the newest technology. The original cobbler, Armando Ulate, came to Chicago from Costa Rica; he was born into the trade, like his father before him, and he was trained from an early age in the exacting skills of the cobbler's profession. Today the Village Cobbler is still a Ulate family run business along with our skilled practitioners in our workshop whom typically have 15 years of experience in the craft. Our experienced staff can typically complete most work the same day we receive it.
